Why did the NPG create a mentorship program?

The mentorship program is designed to foster professional growth, community building, and knowledge sharing within the African professional community. By connecting professionals across various levels and industries, this program aims to bridge knowledge gaps, promote diversity and inclusion, and support capacity building in diverse areas. Whether you’re an emerging entrepreneur, an experienced executive, or anywhere in between, this program provides a unique opportunity to connect with others who share your interests and goals. Through mentorship, networking, and guidance, participants will gain valuable insights, expand their professional networks, and develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their chosen fields.

What is the duration of the mentor/mentee engagement?

The program’s first edition will run from September 2nd, 2024, to February 28th, 2025, and will feature a 6-month mentor/mentee relationship. Participants will be expected to meet for at least 1 hour every month, providing a structured and supportive environment for meaningful connections and growth.

Would I receive training with my mentor/mentee?

Yes, mentors and mentees will be required to attend a virtual training/opening ceremony before the program begins. Only the Opening and Closing ceremony will be required where expectations about the program will be shared and feedback/ monthly survey will be send out to assess the progress of participants.

Can I end my relationship with my mentor/mentee?

Yes, if the pairing isn’t respectful, safe, or beneficial, the mentor or mentee should report the issue immediately to the NPG via email to info@nigerianprogroup.org

How are mentors/mentees selected and paired?

Mentors are leaders who are members of the NPG or allies who have indicated interest and have the time commitment to engage for 6 months. Mentees are NPG members who have expressed interest and have the time commitment to engage for 6 months. Both parties also commit to attending the NPG mentors opening and closing event for program participants. Based on areas of interest and expertise, members will be matched accordingly.
